Jonas, thanks for all the great info! I already have the adapter and the lamp is running well. :) So, if I order French-base bulbs, do I order 15w or 30w?

I have never seen the US-made Lava Simplex versions of these. Anyone have pics? Oddly enough, it was easier for me to get two French-made vintage glitters than it has been to get vintage US glitters! Expensive though!

Callisto, here's how to easily run these in the USA: First, order bulbs of approximately twice the wattage you want. 15w max is best for French/Italian glitters. Bulbman.com stocks French-base bulbs. Second, buy a plug adapter at Radio Shack that turns round French prongs into flat USA prongs. Then you're set. No rewiring or current converter necessary.

Great lamp, by the way. Yes, Lava-Simplex made lamps like this in the US, collectors sometimes call them 'executive-style' lamps. There was an oval with diagonal cuts (Continental) and a square (Mystique), both in either Lava Lite or GemLite.

It's powered. I'll post a video soon. Tomorrow. It's shut off for the night. It needs a brighter light, too.

Oddly enough, it seems easier to get a vintage French glitter than a USA one. I have another one on the way. I think I am going to get this one re-wired as I have no desire to ship bulbs overseas.

I love those. Lava Simplex made the same style in the USA and it was called the Gemlite Continental. I still have to get one of these for my collection.
