I've got an amazing liquor bottle that I'm dying to turn into a lava lamp. However, the recipes for goo sound complicated to perfect and I'd really just like to buy a functioning lamp and dump the goo from it into my liquor bottle. I'd have to adapt the base to fit the bottle too. Would that work, or am I just better off starting from scratch? Thanks!

I won't destroy a nice vintage one or anything. Don't worry!

I prefer Goo Kitting... www.gookits.com I just HATE seeing good; old lava lamps; bite the dust just for a custom mod. Now I will say this... I have used an old lamp to repair an even older lamp. That's fine. You gotta take into account the value of the lamp you are destroying. If it's much less than the fully restored lamp once repaired then go for it.
Okay, cool! I'll try that and post it on here if it works. Thank ya!

You can refill with an old lamp.
You can mix two different lamps as long as the formula is the same. The formula has only significantly changed twice. Once in the early 70's, and again in 2003. A 1990 lamp mixed with a 1999 lamp will work as long as you use equal amounts of each lamp. The problem occurs when you use 100% of one lamp and use 30% of another lamp to top it off.
