So, Menards was having 32oz lamps on sale for $11. I didn't need another but they had a red base one with red goo and clear fluid so I bought one since red is my favorite color. It immediately turned cloudy and got worse and worse the more I ran it. It flowed well, but was so cloudy after a week that I couldn't see the blobs hardly at all if they were on the far side of the globe. Couldn't even see my hand through the globe, not even at the top narrow end. Well, Menards didn't have any more of these I could exchange for so I contacted Susan at Lava but never got a response. Checked back recently and Menards had one more in stock so I bought it. The new one is flowing well and is not cloudy (yet).
So, the question is, what to do with Mr. Cloud Red? I could return it or I could try a fluid change. The process is just to dump out the old, replace with distilled water and add touches of epsom salts and Dawn to get the flow the way I want, right? I was thinking of making it a red fluid/red wax lamp which I think would look killer on the red base or I could tint the fluid yellow to match the old yellow/red classic color combo (although the modern red wax isn't as deep red as the old stuff).
Hmm. I'm sure a fluid swap would lead to gookits and other shenanigans.

'That's exactly how I got addicted to goo kitting!!! Started playin with fluids. Turned a cheapo 20 oz into cottage cheese. It was a black/clear. Started out clear, then clouded up. Not bad, but if my lamps aren't crystal clear my OCD starts up. long story short I ended up ordering one small kit........ummmm...just look at my pics for the rest of the story, lol!!!
