Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hey all!

I have a lava lamp which I recently had to change the water in. The reason for this is that the lava is a very deep red. So the water had become almost the same colour as the lava as the die seeped out. I opened it, changed the water out and sealed it again! However, now the lava becomes liquid but just sits at the bottom? It doesn't float? Does anyone know why this is happening? I miss it! :(

Please don't tell me you used tap water to replace the old liquid?

I'm not a techno expert but I don't think this would work.
I think help is at hand though. There are some real boffins here who can help better than me.

Regards
Jerome
