Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I JUST BOUGHT A VINTAGE CENTURY CENTURY LAVA LAMP FOR $5 AT A FLEA MARKET MANUFACTURE DATE OF FEB '72. ITS BEAUTIFUL, I TOOK IT HOME AND PLUGGED IT IN AND LET IT WARM UP AND THE HEAT COIL SINK TO THE BOTTOM. THE LAVA HAS EXCESSIVE AIR BUBBLES IN IT AND SEEMS TO BE BROKE UP INTO SMALL BUBBLES TOO. ALSO THE LIQUID IS A LITTLE LOW. IT SAT IN THE HOT SUN IN THIS SHOP FOR YEARS THE OWNER SAID SO I DONT KNOW IF THAT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT. CAN THIS BE FIXED OR CAN I REPLACE THE LIQUID AND LAVA? I LOVE THIS LAMP AND JUST STARTED TO COLLECT THEM. HELP......
