Bulb keeps on blowing

All,

I have an issue that I hope you may be able to assist me with.

In 1 evening, I have gone through 4 new bulbs !!

I put the bulb in, it works fine, about an hour later the bulb just switches off.....I checked the fuse, all okay, replace the bulb and I get another hour out of it until it goes again !!

Any idea what has happened to my lava lamp? I use it to help my little boy get to sleep so am literally lost without it !!

Any assistance would be great.

The plug says that it should be a 3 AMP fuse, checked this, all okay, the bulb is a 40W frosted type. I bought some cheapies from a cheapie shop and I have destroyed all them in one evening, clearly there is something seriously wrong with the lamp.

I thought it may be that the bulb is slightly bigger than the original bulb I used (for 4 years) and could be almost touching the flask and getting too hot?

I will call Mathmos UK later and see what they say.
