KINGSTON CRYSTALITES MINI LAVA LIGHTS

Can anyone help me. I have just aquired a set of KINGSTON CRYSTALIYES made by KINGSTON LAMP CO LTD of Hull, they originally cost 26 shillings.

This is a set of 8 lights on a flex (rather like Christmas tree lights), The bases where the bulbs are are in different colours as are the glass tubes which just push into the bases, the tubes are about 4 1/2 inches high, inside the tubes is a small (approx 1/2 inch tube also made of glass)

There is no plug but it does have a bayonette fitting to plug into a lamp or light fitting.

What I would like to know is are these proper lava lamps, and does anyone know anything about them.

hanks for the reply, they look very similar to yours will try and take a photo later on today, I did have them on last night and they look terrific. Im not too sure wether to keep them or maybe in the future sell them,

I notice that yours have a clip to attach them to the tree, whereas these have small crocodile clips. Are thse from the 1950's

I also have a set of these lights. Could I please ask where you purchased your set from as I have desperately been trying to find spare bulbs for them without success? Our set have been in the family for years and I know to their existence from the around the 1940's maybe into early 1950's.

Nice to know someone else has a set of these, are they the same ones?. Sorry I cannot help you with your enquiry as I got them from an auction in a mixed lot of other items. Arnt they lovely lit up.Nobody has ever seen them before. I have heard that the firm Kingstons has closed down.

Thank you for putting an age to them as I thought that they were from the 50s. If ever you find any other information I would be really pleased if you would let me know.

That's a shame but thank you for letting me know. I have tried searches on the web for them and can't find anything. I am still trying though so will let you know if I find anything else out. Likewise, if you do I would be grateful if you would advise me as I am desperate to get some spare bulbs. Can anyone else help - they are pygmy sized bulbs, screw in with a flat top to sit the bubble tube on.

It's always been a bit of a tradition to light them at Xmas but they wont light as a bulb has now blown but, I agree, they are fantastic when they are lit and working.

Hayley, I don't know if they would work, but have you looked at replacement flashlight bulbs? They have the screw in base with a flat rim. They might not be compatible with A/C electrical circuits (household) though.

Are the bulbs removable from the plastic bases? If so, send a photo to bulbman.com and they should be able to help.

These are not simple bubble lights - they're like the "lava bubble lights" made recently and sold in the US, which have clear liquid that bubbles, and colored oil which gets carried up in droplets by the bubbles.

I don't know if this will help you or not, but there is a set of these lights up for auction on Ebay, item number 310103200232 (at $260... ouch!), but maybe you can send a message to the seller and he can help you find replacement parts? His name is Mrgoodlite, so it seems like he might be in the lighting business. Just type in Kingston Lights inthe search box and the auction should come up on top.

Hi all i also have a set of these all working. i have changed two bulbs for the nearest i could find at my local independant elecrrical outlet. I am 48 years old and i can remember ny parents putting these out. I have looked at the images above and its a pity the one with the instructions are out of focus i would really liked to have read them.

I love these lights. I have some bubble lights that are all clear and when lit up, the lights are colored. Looks really nice. Sadly, the cord and base are green. Never understood that. I might paint them white so it looks better.

Can you post a close up picture of the bulb? It looks like a mini lava lamp but really hard to see.
