Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

i have a lamp which is about 10 years old but i havent used it in the last 2 years through moving house and so on, anyway it seems cloudy and im sure it started out as green wax with blue water, is the fluid just distilled water with food colouring?
i posted a pic of it anyway let me know what you guys think?

whilst im reading up on replacing the liquid in this lamp, i thought i might share a trick i used to remove the cap cleanly.
you need to put the lamp on for 8 hours so its nice and warm this will melt the glue which is sealing the cap, and make it easier to remove.
i have posted another pic to show a cleanly removed cap

sweet! Thanks for that site. layman's terms, just what I been looking for. been looking at videos and on here and everything seemed complicated. am sure it still is. but that just made it sound easier. hmmm makes me want to go find a cheep clouded lamp for practice.
Well very interesting.
