250oz capping question

Does anyone else leave just the rubber cap on and not put the silver cap on when you refill a 250oz?

When I didn't have the silver cap crimped down real well, the heat from running my Grande pushed the rubber cap out.  ;>)

What would happen if I put it on when it is fully heated up?

it is suggested that you put the pug in when it is fully heated and therefore at it's maximum pressure.  When the lamp then cools it will actually create a mild vacuum and suck the plug in more securely.
