Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I know that you can use the metallic Sharpies to make metallic wax, but does anyone know if regular Sharpies can be used to dye wax? I have an old purple/red (#21) that the previous owner must have left in the sun, because the liquid has zero color left, and the wax is pink at best.

I'm going to try the Pur pitcher method to filter the liquid, and I know about using the McCormick neon food coloring. I'd like to make the wax red again, so I'm wondering if a red Sharpie can be used in the same way as a metallic Sharpie.

Thanks in advance for any insight!

If it is water-based it will not color the wax, but it will color the water.  Some people have dyed their globe water with the stuff from highlighter pens to make it "glow".

my suggestion would be to get some of the goo kit dye from ebay, it will work the best in the wax and is mighty cheap.
