Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I think this is a pretty cool idea!!!  10 minutes to get goo'ing and runs about 4 hours on a tealight.

Several members own them, most, if not all, have had good results.

I've had several (see the links above - two of those are my reviews) and I like them. Ravi, the owner, is super nice and I would definitely buy one! :)

Do they use some type of liquid oil/wax like these water timers?

Those lamps are pretty neat, cool spin on a fireflow!

Not sure... they move based on heat, and the gadget you pictured above is primarily oil and water, like wave machines.

Thanks Erin!!!  Another lamp on my bucket list!!!!

Oh totally Erin, just wondered if it was more a liquid based 'wax' since its heat up time is so quick.

Yeah, it moves when it's cold - it's not solid, ever.

Do you still have yours Erin??  I know you said you downsized a bit and got rid of some of your lamps.  I like the shape of these.  Very different from the norm.  I also am a huge candle fanatic, so that would give me a little bit of the best of both of my favorite things.  Ya know, I was seriously thinking of investing in a LL Grande, but so afraid of being disappointed.  I received a purple/yellow 52 oz complete lamp for my son's 52 oz neon green globe (don't ask....I don't know why they did that either??) that my son didn't want because he didn't like the color combo for his room.  Anyway, it takes forvever to heat up.  So I'm wondering why??  My son comes in my room last nite and asks whats up with the coil in there mom?  Yep, just like my pink/white it flips it's coil on every start up.  The pink/white finally stopped after about 100 runs or more.  Not kidding.  Once it starts flowing, I gotta say, the flow for the first few hours isn't bad.  The globe is shit.  Looks like it was painted purple and the purple was scratched off in 2 spots at the bottom of the globe.  That's how noticeable and big they are.  If I can get a pic I will.  You can't see it when it isn't lit, but as soon as it's lit it's super noticeable.  There are occlusions, but not as many as my other few chinas that I've gotten.

So, to wrap things up, I really don't wanna spend anywhere near 100.00 on a grande.  I know others have gotten them from target and theirs are fine, but that's just not my kind of luck.  I figure if I wanna set myself up for disappointment, mine as well just make my own lamps.  At least I can work on them and try to fix the issues.  With these globes, they're not even worth goo-kitting anymore.  So, if I'm going to spend my money on anymore lamps, it's not going to be anything from LL.  I really want a Wiz glitter but since I got burned on ebay with that last sale, I'm even afraid to deal with them anymore. So I guess for now I'm gonna just chill and enjoy the lamps that I have now that are working ok.  I use the new purple/yellow for a tad of color and light illumination on the dark side of my bedroom, but don't even get to watch it much.

They are great little lamps, the formula within is entirely unique too!

Have the 1st generation model and its collecting dust.  Not at all impressed as it clouds up severely after its been run.

They do cloud up after they are run (about at the 3.5 hour mark), but they clear the next day. At least that's how mine are
