Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Blob won't move

Hello everyone,

I have a lava lamp and I'm using Mineral Oil, 70% alcohol, and 91% alcohol. The lava lamp is nice and heated, but the blob won't move. I can see the heat waves moving up and down, but the physical blob won't move. Any suggestions?

Also, when the lamp starts to heat up, the mineral oil begins to get cloudy. Is that natural or am I doing something wrong?
