After finally seeing what a really clear globe looks like (the latest batch of Grandes seems to be great), I decided to filter some of my other lamps. Everything was going great with my first lamp (a relatively new 52oz neon) until I tried to recap the bottle. It seems the bottle capper I bought on Amazon assumes there's a second ridge to grab on to below the rim, which doesn't exist on LL bottles. The caps fit fine, but the capper isn't able to crimp them onto the bottle.
So, my question is, how does everyone recap their bottles? Is there a specific type or model of capper that's recommended?

I just use a hose clamp to re-tighten the caps on my globes. So far it has worked just great. I do wait until the lamp is hot to make sure the max pressure is present before closing the lamp.

I have no problem removing an LL cap with just a flat head screwdriver. And I use a hose clamp to tighten it back down. But I'm finding that doesn't necessarily seal the globe. I'd be interested in knowing methods gooheads use to ensure the globe is actually sealed.
I've thought of trying some sealing wax or finding a washer that would fit inside the cap to provide a better seal. I figure it's that or find something to seal it with from the outside.
I just use a hand bottle caper and a hammer but I throw the cap I took off - its only meant to be used once and if you use a new cap the seal is guaranteed.
Oh how I hate to part with the original LL code stamped cap Tim. But makes perfect sense. :)

True, fortunatly I haven't had to do this yet as I don't have many US globes but have done it to plenty of china ones though.
I am not a oringal fanitic so it dosent bother me much and anyway.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I'll try a hammer with my hand capper first, carefully, and if that doesn't work, I'll get a bench capper. I'll just need to make sure it's large enough to work with a 52oz bottle. Does anyone have a specific model that worked well for them?
My worry with a hose clamp is that it lacks the downward pressure of a capper, so it might not create as good of a seal.
