Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I have some eight foot clear Pyrex glass pipe in different diameters..can anyone pass along some pointers, details, materials, advice on how to build a really big lava lamp? thanks Rick 512-775-1339

To begin with you´re gonna need a steady foot with a 200w lightbulb. It would probably take at least a day to start up.

Get with a glass fabricator to cut and add a bottom to some of the pyrex tubing.  The base can be created a variety of ways and heating the cylinder can be done with a light, or element, or combination of the two.  The light bulb is always the simplest way to go.

Hello and thanks...I understand the lightbulb heat source and  water tight sturdy base that will support this thing..one of my questions, is the heat source above the base plate actually suspended in liquid?
