Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

So without being able to post photos.. let me explain

Two of my Carlisles spent yrs in the garage also.. well very cloudy.. i mean watered down milk.. but are kinda clearing up.. but here is the problem... once they should be going they dont.. they are actually doing the china lamp thing.. a small lava blob on top and one that is on bottom will raise like a large ant hill but nothing more.. this is after it will kinda do the exchange of two boring passing blobs..

I went from a 20 watt to a 25 to the 40 and NO difference   I even stuck it on the base of a wizard and the base of a midnight.. same reaction... \

should i pop the top and take a bit of its fluid and melt a bit of salt into it..and try that??

Personally, I would give them time cycling for a few months.  If you notice improvement you can decide if it is enough to continue or fix.  Whatever you add to the water you can't take back :)

very true.. they have been cycling for about a month.. but how do they stand a chance to clear up if they wont flow.. \

I have gently swirled em a few times in hopes it would jump start the flow.. but no help.. lava is in and around coil as should be.. its baffling really..

but thank you for your input.. i really dont want to open it much less mess with its contents either..but in time I will rather than have a dead lamp..lamps..

The hot summers of neglect have probabably killed the globe.

this sucks.... so do you think its hopeless ??  I will try to get them going for at least another month if not i guess i will dump and goo kit... got to be a crime... goo kit on a Carlisle...actually two... I dont know.. if the garage did it.. I remember i got em at a garage sale.. this was in 07 and i tried to run em  but with no luck and thats why they ended up in one of fhe storage boxes..

I could always get a 32 oz from a midnight or something and pour it in too..

A fluid swap would be best if you do redo them. I really doubt they will heal, but you should give them time just in case.

Ultimately you will have to make the call. Even the best made products can fail, and without knowing how they were treated before you got them they may indeed be dead. I have killed lamps myself before I found OG, but I don't shake lamps to fix them anymore. lol
so check this out... i used a vintage base and put lamp on it.. then I lit a small candle.. not the tea candle but the other small like the two inch ones.. got it up under with a small space between bottom of bottle and the tiny glass candle holder for candle to get its needed oxygen... my damn carlisle is running perfectly..... GO FIGURE !!!! SO I will run to store and buy a few dozen of these candles.. run the two on cycles and hope this clears them up and gets the lava right..  I do have a ton of photos i took of it.. (cant post yet) tech. difficulties till weekend I hope..

when i mean base.. not a lamp base.. a dish base is what I used

sad to admit.. buy i remember a time some years a go i would shake my lamps cause i thought they looked cool as they re gathered them selves

That's odd. Girl, I can't wait until you get your computer back. We need pics. :)

Did I see in chat the other day that you need a card reader?  If so this http://www.walmart.com/ip/Targus-USB-2.0-SD-Card-Reader/16617535 might help.  It is for SD cards.  I have the same one for years with no problems.
