Chrome bulb?

What is the chrome part doing?

Is it better for use them in a lavalamp, or is it only good for aesthetic reason?

It looks like its for dicrecting the light upwards on a lampshade

I dont think its any use for lava lamps as it will also reflect the heat downwards

If somone can find a nice use for it then that would be intresting
