Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

So I have a clear/red china.  I have had for many months.  I replaced the coil and recapped it and it has been going strong ever since.  However I have begun to notice thin white whispy strings inside.  Not in the lava but in the clear liquid.  They look like spiderwebs, but they bend and flow.  I'm not sure what these are or whats causing them... but it looks like they are multiplying.  You can see them both when the lamp is in motion and at rest.

Anyone come across this before????

Nope it was a completely new and clean coil. It was actually a self-made one from Lowe's.
I have a feeling it was a coating on the coil wire that has come off.

Bobby...would a coffee filter work as a low budget way to clear my somewhat cloudy china 20 and 52 oz-ers?
