I have 32 oz Lava Lite that was made back in the 90's. It is no long flowing properly. I don't know if there is something wrong with the wax or not, but there is definitely an issue with the coil.
The coil seems to have separated at its seam and is no longer in a circle, but in a U shape. It also refuses to settle to the bottom. My questions are as follows:
1. I have the bottle-cap type seal on my globe. How do I get it off and get it back on?
2. Where can I get another coil?
3. How do I get a new coil in that tiny opening?

Hi, Aaron.
I have LOTS of coils, and I'd be happy to send you one. You can use a regular beer bottle opener to to get the cap off - just do it gently. You need to keep it in good shape, because you are going to need to recap it when we're through.
Once you have the cap off, heat up the lamp on its base. Once the wax is melted, use a coat hanger to fish out the defective coil. The coils are flexible, so just squish the new one that I've sent you and drop it in the globe.
Now, you'll need a table top capper (search this site, you'll find them) to recap the globe, or you can use a band clamp to reseal the cap on the globe. I can send you a band clamp along with a coil if you like. Merry Christmas!
