cracking up...

so i got a giant yesterday off craigslist ($20! whoopie!)
i plugged it in and noticed what is either a crack in the glass or a scratch.
when i run my fingernail down it, i can feel a little bit of it on the outside but that could just be a scratch.
any thoughts whether or not it is safe to use or if it'll break in two?
(i should have posted a photo, eh? oh well... no time to do it for a few days now.)

I have an Excalibur globe just like you've described. They look like cracks on either side of the globe but when i run my finger down the sides they feel smooth.

When i took a closer look they were shiny and smooth looking so i came to the conclusion that they were probably part of the manufacture process. Scared the crap out of me when i first spotted them but have used it constantly and it's fine...just suprised i never noticed them before ;-)
