Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I am interested in attempting to create my own fluid for the lamp. I am aware you need a distilled water, dish soap, and canning salt. Further yet I am aware that you need a teaspoon of salt. But, what is that measurement for, a 32oz globe? Any answers and tips much appreciated. And does this formula just get multiplied for larger lamps?
