Destilled water only = All wax at top

After i realized that my Grande was never going to be way i wanted it to be i thought that i might as well mess around with it, to learn from it.

 

So i tried removing all the liquid and add Destilled water only and the plan after that was to add different things to the liquid too see how the wax was going to behave.. I want to goo kit it anyways so why not ? :)

 

But after adding destilled water ALL my wax has moved to the top of the lamp.. Can anyone explain why ? See the picture

Its wierd.. I dont understand why.. Maybe i should just leave it off for a while ..
