Did you know why mathmos io is called io?

Today I saw a documentary about planet Jupiter and it turned out that one of its moons is called io. It has more than 400 volcanos which makes it the object with the most volcanic activity in our solar system.

I was quite surprised to find out about this, I was alway wondering about the meaning of this rather odd name.
