Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I 'Won' and paid for a Crestworth Coach Lantern lava lamp on Ebay and thought everything was hunky dory (fine) until I had my Paypal payment returned.

I knew this nab was too good to be true. A buy it now price of £37.99 for a Coach Lantern? (Ruby/Port) Although there was no picture, I was happy to take the chance. I already own a Starboard (Green) version and really wanted the Port (Red) one.

Anyway, it turns out, as it was being wrapped up for dispatch, the girlfriend of the seller accidently dropped the bottle onto a hard concrete floor, and the handle came off too!

Oh by the way, the bargain I thought I had? one day later, a similar example went for on Ebay £155 and then my one mysteriously smashes. Fishy I say.

I contacted the seller and asked about any possibility of salvaging what was left like the base for example but they've decided to keep the bits that are left. Hmmmmmm.

I'll be keeping my eye out for a re-listing.

I had one seller tell me they wanted to cancel the transaction after I won the auction because they said they could get more money somewhere else.  Some choose to forget that their are real people out on the Interweb.

I doubt you will see the item relisted. I have a feeling someone emailed the seller with a offer and then your lamp "broke". It sucks, I had it happen to me before. Theres not really much you can do.

It happened to me once from a UK seller and a really sweet buy it now on a Lunar.

He contacted me right after the sale and said he would get me a quote on shipping.

An hour later he said that his eBay account was hacked and the hackers took his password so the sale was fraudulent.

He said eBay would be taking care of the hackers not to worry.

I never received anything from eBay warning me not to pay.

I saw his DVD sales continuing and he was getting feedback.

I ended up leaving him negative feedback warning everyone with "WARNING: Seller said his account is hacked. Please contact eBay immediately!" He immediately left me negative feedback so I knew he was lying.
eBay never contacted me about the fraudulent activity.

Since  the seller cannot leave a buyer negative feedback any more just put a neutral or negative feedback on the transaction.

Seller did not honor the transaction according to terms.
Seller unable to honor the transaction. or something like that.

As long as it's the truth, so be it.
However, never email them with some form of extortion or threat. That will get you kicked off as the buyer.

I've heard a few stories of buyers doing that and getting kicked off.

or someone contacted the seller to let them know their lamp is worth more then they listed it for. Happens all too often on ebay even on craiglist. There are a lot of know-it-alls who think they are helping don't-know-any-better sellers.
