Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Epsom salts, canning wax with candle dye and food coloring is that enough or am I being lied to (on Ebay)?

A guy on Ebay selling lamp parts says he uses nothing but Epsom salts, canning wax with candle dye and food coloring.  Is he lying? Or can
someone make a lava lamp with such common safe ingredients? I assume you
guys know what you're talking about around here, and I do want a lamp
that is the least toxic etc if possible. I see lots of posts with Glycol
and brake cleaner and other scary stuff on here. Is there a happy
medium etc.?  Thanks for any help. I'd read much more here before asking
(and will), but this auction ends in hours so i thought I might try to
get a response. Cheers

I second That!
That would be cool, but I enjoy building things. I would love to do a horizontal lava lamp aquarium or something, with multiple heat sources unnderneath, but want to start by learning how to make the least toxic type of lamp as a start.
The Lava Louie "Gookits" are wonderful! You could still build a base and find a globe in whatever shape you desire...
