Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Has anyone tried making a ferrofluid lava lamp? I've done a test sample with a 100ml glass, but I don't know how to adjust the gravity of it. I've used glycerin to adjust it, but I don't think it's dense enough to change the gravity like it does on the lava lamps.
