Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Another one of those thread 'help me fix my lamp'

Iv been poking around wanting to make my chinese lamp flow better and change the colors, so i have a good idea.

Bascially i took my lamp apart to clear the fluid it had stuff floating around in it, so i removed the fluid washed the wax a bit and filtered the fluid to get the solids out of it. apon reasembling i spilt some fluid and had to top it up with watter now the lava doesnt flow it rises and forms a dome but thats it. obviously the fluid is now too light.

So whats the best way to fix this, im thinking of making new fluid or adding something to my current fluid. but i guess before i jump into it im looking for suggestions from here first.

Thanks,
Travis.

if the wax is doming it may just need a bit of liquid soap - use the wrong one and it may cloud up though.....
id like to upload a pic, but after running it for a bit longer iv gotten it to move it flows in really big blobs that are about 1/3 - 1/2 the wax, moving really slowly they do get to the top just. sometimes ull get a massive blob that will go up to half way then half of it will drip down and the rest will rise or float where it is for a bit.

Any ideas what this would mean? i still think the water is just a bit too light i think the surface tension is ok but i dont know. will look for some fragrentless colourless soap tomorrow - do people use a dishsoap concentrate or like a hand soap?
