Hey all, I just joined after reading for weeks, I have an early 70's red wax, yellow liquid century, that doesnt flow very good. When its heated up only very small balls of goo will rise, but only at one small spot at the bottom of the lamp. A few of the balls will rise to the top and melt into one piece, but most of them make it about 3/4 up and fall back down, and remain in ball form...after awhile there will be hundreds of little unmelted balls at the bottom haha. After hours of running eventually bigger balls will start to rise but dont make it to the top and fall back down... I have another century from the early 70's and it rocks!! Oh and i forgot to mention that that red one Im having problems with probally sat for 20years without being used... I hope this makes sense, if not ill post pictures... thanks

maybe your bulb is also 20 years old, are you using a 40 watt? if it's a 40w try a 60 watt with a dimmer on it.
I though of that and got a new bulb for it, I also took the liquid out and with the cap off heated it up in boiling water for ten mins or so...ill give a 60watt bulb a try... how hot is too hot though? also Im in the process of running it 8 hours on 8 hours off...when i first got it ( it was at the grandmother house) i turned it on and it wouldnt move for weeks, but after the boil and running it, its starting to move... so maybe ill just try to run in with a hotter bulb... I was just wondering if someone knew a trick like adding salt, or water, or something like that.... Im kinda new to this... Thanks so much for your reply
It just sounds like it needs a jump start really. Run it on the 60 watt for a little bit at a time then try going back to the 40 after a week. I wouldn't mess the the fluid until you know for sure its the issue.

maybe like 3 hours on 3 off. A dimmer would be a good investment that way you can keep it on longer.
MUCH BETTER!!!!! Thank you!
Good to hear, I would let it run on the 60w for a week and then go back to the 40w. The 60w will eventually fry your wax if you use it too much.
