For your reference, https://oozinggoo.ning.com/forum/topics/bubbly-and-grainy is the link to the old discussion. I do not want to bump it.
I just sent an email to Mathmos about my frustration on the bad quality of the Fluidium's flow, and guess what I found? Here's our conversation...
A= Me
M= Mathmos
A: I have recently purchased your company's Fluidium lava lamp, but the lava seems to have some problem. First, the lava has little 'flakes' in it, and also, it has lots of bubble in the lava. Is my lamp faulty? Can I exchange the lamp for another at your retailers in my country?
M: Please be so kind and advise your reference number that we can follow up on your order. With regards to the bubbles in the bottle, please not that you should leave the bottle for a few hours after receiving it. The lava should also not be overheated or exposed to cold environments. If this has happened the lava will break up and form small bubbles.
A: My lava lamp's no is 647616. Also, the bubbles in the lava are actually the liquid, not little lava bubbles. The bubbles also make some lava rise up to the top.
M: Please note that the number given below do not match your name. Could you please double check and advise.
A: I bought it in Hong Kong's Homeless, not through the online store.
M: Please note that the liquid in the Fluidium lamp is lighter than the liquid in the other lava lamps we are selling. This lighter liquid results in the water bubbles forming in the wax. However, they will pop every so often and the wax goes back to normal.
So I guess that's why the Fluidium was not that popular...
