Galaxy Fibre Optic Lamp - has anyone disconnected noisy fan?

Has anyone disconnected the fan in the Galaxy?

It's just so noisy and i really can't see much "wafting of fibres" - no more than walking past it!

Do you think it is OK - and will not overheat?

I wouldent take the fan out of electronics which are desinged with a fan - it could overheat.

I have had cases with moving lights (stage lights) where the fan has got blocked with dust and dirt etc and the who thing has overheated and moters burnt out etc, so its kinda essentail to have a fan in a item like this.

What I would suggest is to replace the fan with anougher less quite one.

Has the galxey allways had this noise and if not then it may be beceuse the fan moter is old and needs replacing anyway.
