I see that our friend is also offering this item on eBay -
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MATHMOS-CRESTWORTH-TELSTAR-LAVA-LAMP-RARE-GOL...
With respect to the previous discussion ( https://oozinggoo.ning.com/forum/topics/black-mathmos-telstar-on-eb... ), is this another 'creation'?
Love his comment on the end of his write-up....."OG MEMBERS, PLEASE DON'T BOTHER"!!!

there are some more common colours, namely pink & blue anodised which do pop up now and then and are obviously more expensive than the normal stainless ones.
people do make alterations to normal telstars, for example I know of someone who had a load of millenium ones made up. Thing is they looked absolutely brilliant so it wasnt like they were bad copies but not legit and original.
Just like people make knock-off clothes etc, so the same is for any desireable or collectable item.
if you're just after the look then thats fine as long as you dont pay too much.
Muchos problemos have been caused on here with people insinuating lamps are not genuine finishes/contents etc. even when the seller is not a member of OG they can (and do) view the forum. so its a tread carefully area i'm afraid!
Thanks, I don't really want to remove my stickers. I tried to see how pliable they were.
They were not and probably would have ripped if I forced it.

There's an excellent sticker-remover called Sticky Stuff Remover from Kleeneze that (eventually) unsticks pretty well anything. It's probably also available from many other cheaper sources!
It even softens gel ink; grease and mastics.
I'd have thought that it would shift those labels if you tried.
(WD40 also unsticks quite a lot of things, including glue.)

no, i wasnt talking about tom. i also dont know if the person i was talking about is/was a member here at all. i only mentioned it as a point that copies can be made and made well.

Hey "ford" if you mean tom with the made up milleniums then I have to say they were genuine...his millennium lunar was a custom but the rest was bought from a swiss store (which I unfortunately told him about) where I also had my metallics from...they just had loads of new old stuff like the telstars, fluidium opal and orande, some flocks and some more items...its a shame he got em and sold them with a huge profit, but they were real.
