Everything looks normal to me except its a little cloudy, but that may fix itself over time. What did you do to make it flow?
Nothing, just plugged it in. The directions said running it for 3-5 days may clear up cloudiness, but I didn't know if that meant 3-5 days of normal use or running it straight. So I've just been running it 3-4 hours after it warms up. Welcome to any suggestions.
So that blob at the top that stays there is normal?
Yes

As far as I know it has always been in the instructions, even in the 90's.

Very funny that they write this in the directions now :D
alright! i found the spot to complain about the one i just bought.
i bought this identical lamp, just received it the other day and its so damn cloudy you cant even see the wax. almost at all unless its up against the glass. I have been collecting for many years. always hesitant to purchase these newer china made garbage lamps. and damnit i should have learned my lesson after buying others that ALL had problems.
what is it with these china made junk lamps??!!! i do not understand the major quality change from older usa made models to these recent china lamps. does anybody have any idea whats going on? Ive tried to get answers out of the manufacturer. and i get shut down every time.
what else can i do to resolve this issue myself?
Unforanlty its no surprise that your lamp is like that - the thing to do is to iver take it back from where you got it in return for a clear one (if you can find it) if not then the other option is to filter it - check this out for a how to http://oozinggoo.ning.com/page/cloudy.
About what is going on this is a very hot topic on hear at the moment as LL are moving production back to the US to get the lamps right - check out the latest discussions about what has been happening and a explanation of why things went bad.
unfortunately i bought it off ebay from a LL distributor. and i have gotten no answers from either distributor or manufacturer. so i am almost stuck with it at the moment. guess im going to have to filter it, and buy used usa made lamps off ebay. they will not see another dollar from me.
Hi Justin,
youre' right, you will have to do what nearly all other proud owners of Grande do: filter it.
It works!
yeah, but still the point is, i should not have to do this.
so be it though!
its being taken care of. LL contacted me and theyre sending me a new one. woohoo.
as for filtering...
i have been trying to find a NON EX model filter from MSR and mostly all i can find is the EX model.
anybody know where i can find one thats going to work for what i need it to?
im going to try and filter it. if that doesnt cut it ill move onto the goo kits. i have seen on here blacklight goo kits. im super interested in that!
