Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I have an old lava lamp with blue lava. When turned on the lava sits on the bottom in a ball. Can I fix this issue?

Sometimes. it is the bulb, or location of where the lamp is (A chill).
A fresh 40w bulb may change the lamp's behaviour.
Can you describe it in more detail, or provide a picture of it?
Does (or did) it ever flow?
