Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

If I use the same 40 watt appliance bulb in both my 32 oz lava lamps..How come the blue/clear heats up faster than the red/clear one? Also would you know if the colors also came in a red wax with pink liquid?

The reason Im asking is because in my previous post,I stated I thought my red lamp looked cloudy. But the more I look at it, it almost looks like it is pink liquid. Thanx for the info..

I don't know why they heat up at diffrent times - there may be a lot of factors involved but it is probabley down to varations in the water and the wax.

Lava Lite dident release a red / pink lamp - it is likely that the cloure from the red wax has faded into the water - thus making it look pink and possablie cloudy.

The link to the Lava lite cap codes and all cloure combos released is hear http://oozinggoo.ning.com/page/lava-lite-color-codes

Thanks for the info.. If I run this lamp more often will it clear up? The blue/clear that I have didnt fade into the liquid. Was this a prob with the red ones?

Yea if you keep running it then it should clear up (US globes ushalie do).

I think that the red has more tendencie to fade but it depends on usage, on the age and possablie the wax and clouring etc

I was reading one of the discussions on sunbleaching.. I seen your post on asking DR What. But was wondering on the post from vixengyspy, she stated the sun does work in a few days for a32 oz.. Im just wondering if she was refering to a red/clear globe?  what do you think? running the lamp more or try the bleaching in the hot sun?

I would say that running it would clear up the lamp and if it dosent or you just want it sorted then you can filter it to clear it up. As for the cloure fade, I am not too sure how well sun bleaching would work - Dr What has said that fading a cloure leaked globe gives mixed results.

Can you post some pics so we can see how bad it is.

Sure.. give me a bit  Thanks for the info

The different color lamps will heat up at different times because some colors reflect the light and some absorb the light. Same principal as black cars being warmer in the sun than white cars.
