Hi,
I'm from the colonies across the pond and family is originally from England (although hundreds of years ago). I have a request...I'm looking for a Lunar, but hardly any available over here. I've seen several on eBay UK over the last few months and there is two up for auctions now...unfortunately most sellers dont want to ship. I know Jim has been successful at shipping several overseas and has developed a reliable method and contacts.
Sooo, I was wondering if someone might be able to ship one for me if I purchased one that was nearby. Yes, this is a BIG request, but I amy be able to offer you some type of favor in return of just cash.
I know this is a long shot, but I really want a Lunar and should explore possibilities. My next step is to search the family tree. Thanks!
Jethro

One is in Whitchurch, Shropshire and another is in London. The London one looks nicer.
I've got a great spot picked out in my living room, but shipping has been difficult. Has something like this been done before?
Hi,
If you're ready to spend more, maybe the best way to convince the seller to ship to you, is to offer him a "reward/bonus" to do it. It may be simple than to offer a reward here, and will be much easier to resolve an issue in case of problems (broken or lost shipping)
If the one which is about to end doesn't sell, try the seller again, he may change is mind.
Good luck!
Yea I can help you out - PM will be sent.
Yes, I thought that might work, but it seems some sellers are older and dont want to or cant move the lamp around.
Thanks for the advice.
Cheers, Jethro

Thanks Jim,
Your information about Lunar shipping has been very helpful. 9 Lunars and your other lamps are an impressive collection, you should open a museum.
Cheers, J

It is hard to find sellers that will ship large lamps overseas, but it is not impossible. ;)
I found a couple from this very site.
I was able to find 9 different UK sellers that were willing to ship a Lunar to me in the last three years, and I suspect that you will be able to do so as well using a little determination and patience.
I would recommend sending the seller "detailed" shipping instructions when you do.
FED EX or DHL would work best for this.
And you need to understand that this will be a rather "costly" venture, as my last Lunar cost me 140 pounds just to ship, and then I got hit with a $75.00 customs bill. :(
I would not expect the total cost to be any less than $1,000.00 USD.
Good luck with your Lunar Landing!
Thanks! If I get one I'd really like to figure out how to obtain an XXL globe too and maybe some exotic goo.

Contact Marcel about this as he knows a glass blower who can use 'pirex' glass and can make this size globes or if you find a glass blower who can do the same then thats how you can get thies big globes made, but will need to know how to use heat resistaint glass.
Exotic goo - gookits, Mathmos custom lamps, DIY job etc.
