Help ! Planning a fun filled weekend of filtering/repairing defective China lamps

Right now,i have nothing in the way of tools and supplies, but I want to clear up my cloudy lamps that work, and try adding stuff (surfactant?) to a few that wont flow no matter how hot or cool I make them (mostly a couple of 20 oz).

I am in Memphis Tenn, looking for brand name recommendations on things I can buy this weekend and get the job done, such as:

1) a cheap filtering system where and how much, brand name etc

2) something cheap to get the top off and then back on again....name brands and approximate costs if possible

3)If I need to get surfactant what mainstream  brand is best and where might I find it? Hardware store? Grocery store?

I've got the instructions from molten meditation printed out.... I'm gonna try and get the propylene glycol mentioned in a recent thread, which is informative but I NEED specifics on everything else.... brand names where can I find this stuff.... exactly how to reseal the bottle cap, etc ...

Thanks!!

Charles

This is what I have gleaned from reading different threads, but I have not tried any myself, so proceed with caution
1) cheap filtering, probably the best inexpensive method is to buy a Brita pitcher filter (under $20 I think) search the threads on here for more information. Another method is to use a coffee filter if the globe is not too cloudy.

2) Use a flat bottle-cap opener very gently. Just slightly lift the edge then move around the cap a little and repeat, this should loosen the cap without bending it out of shape.
Use an aircraft type hose clamp to crimp the lid back in place (couple of bucks for the clamp)

3)Bubble solution is a surfactant!! You know, for blowing bubbles, and you get a cool bubble wand! (cheap!)

Search the threads, it is kind of amazing how much information is here ;)
