I have a Telstar Rocket, clear/turquoise received a few days ago. It was not hot weather when it was delivered, but after letting it sit for a couple of hours, I turned it on. Within less than 15 minutes, it spiked a little up one side, but then started shooting dime sized blobs of wax at lightening speed all the way to the top. Being a rank newbie, I didn't know what to do, but from reading here it appeared it might be running too hot. I put an inline dimmer on it and slid it down to about 65 percent (just a guess, since this dimmer is not marked), and now it is flowing great. It takes at least half an hour or a bit more to start spiking now, but after the spikes collapse, it is flowing with long stretchy columns and breaking into large blobs too. Did I do the right thing? I sure don't want to fry this lamp!!! This color is gorgeous, I've never seen anything like it, it looks like neon but a very strange brilliant turquoise. The lamp was a bit hazy at first, but has cleared up now. Has anyone else had to put a dimmer on their Telstars? Please tell me I didn't screw it up.

Boy you must have talked to customer service rep who was named"employee of the month". My experience certainly was not even close to that. After waiting for a week after I placed my order and no lamp or any communication from LampLust I placed a call to their customer service and was informed that the lamp had just shipped.
I was worried at first, Joe, since I had seen a few comments where others had some problems. They sent me a confirmation immediately by email and I got the lamp in 3 or 4 days. The second one, I just ordered from Amazon, since I have a Prime membership, and knew they would ship UPS in two days free. I still don't know why that employee (name left unspoken in case he's on here), called me at home so much and emailed twice or three times. But I wasn't complaining, he was very nice.
Joe, mine had that same packing, but did have a big colorful Mathmos sticker on the inside box that held the base. I thought it would have the real box too, but it at least had that sticker on it. I just got my second one while ago and one of the plastic feet was missing on mine too, but I found it in the floor, thank Heavens. It had either fallen out of the packing or I pulled it off taking the tissue paper off the legs. So far, they are running great. But this new one has just been flowing good for a couple of hours, not long enough to tell much about it yet. I did put both on dimmers, they run hot on that 40 watt bulb really quickly.

I just received my Telstar from LampLust yesterday. Unfortunately for me I am very disappointed. The first thing is the fact that I am a collector and as a collector paying a premium price for a brand new lamp I expected it to arrive in original Mathmos packing. Not the case. The Telstar arrived packed in a plain brown unmarked corrugate shipper, no Mathmos packing at all, just the lamp parts packed in paper and bubble wrap inside the box. Secondly the lamp arrived missing two of the clear plastic protective covers on the legs. And third the bulb does not work. I contacted LampLust customer service regarding my problems and they said they would take care of the missing and broken parts but had no explanation for the lack of original Mathmos packing other then "thats how we receive our orders".
On the upside, and there is an upside. The Telstar certainly does seem to be a quality constructed lamp. I only hope that it performs as well as it looks but I won't know that for sure until my new bulb arrives.
Glad to hear things went well for you. Hopefully in my case they handle this without any more follow up from me and maybe that will influence my opinion and prompt me to continue to purchase from them. As a consumer I refuse to settle for anything less than what I pay for, no compromising.
I will be wishing that all turns out well for you! Yes, at that price it should be perfect. I am thinking that if yours also was fullfulled by Amazon, that they would take care of any issues with an order. Their customer service is easy to reach instantly, and they have always solved any problem I have ever had with a purchased item. Good Luck!!

I know, the price is horrible, but I really like the Telstar Rockets. I ordered my clear/turquoise, which they say is no longer available, directly from LampLust. The man I spoke to has called my home 3 times and emailed me twice to see if I liked the lamp. He was very nice, but I have no idea why he did that?? Maybe he liked my East TN accent. LOL
Anyway, when I got that first lamp, it came in an Amazon box and freaked me out. I had no idea that Amazon was fullfilling their orders. At least they get here in 2 days on UPS, which is great!
Thanks a lot. You guys just cost me $130.
Plus, i'm gonna have to deal with the "ANOTHER EFFING LAMP?" lecture from the gf now.

ROFLOL, guys!!! You'll love it, Phishy!!! And MM, you are right, these lamps are spectacular and worth the money, at least to me. My husband just told me that I'm not looking at him while he's talking, I'm looking at the lamps. LOL Can't help it. This yellow/red is more active than the clear/turquoise, but both are winners! I'm in love. I have one more on the way for tomorrow......EEEKKK Newbie Mathmos madness!!!!
I would LOVE to have a Fluidium! Uh Oh......
