Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I have a model EB-986 rocket style lamp that I purchased 7 or 8 years ago from a thrift store. Recently, the bulb burned out.  But, I cannot figure out how to remove the globe to access the light bulb. I unscrewed the nut at the bottom thinking it would allow the disassembly, but it did nothing to help. The globe appears to be fixed quite solidly to the base - no movement possible to separate them.  Any help I can get from you is welcome. Thanks

Thomas

I have never owned this model lamp but this member thread seems to have the same lamp and says that they were able to change the light bulb, perhaps they have a trick to opening it up. I could guess that there is some kind of adhesive holding the glass globe to the base section perhaps, hope you find the solution!
