Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I have a crusty old baby astro bottle that has all this black crud flakes through the wax - no idea where it came from... It was all over the spring, but when I pulled the spring out it all fell off into the wax :( It actually flows well and should be pretty good once I filter the fluid and top it off, but that black stuff looks bad. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

it seems to me the coil had rusted into the wax which looks black with rust pieces. Im not sure how your filter the wax. I would ask bondan or astrobaby. All i have done is transfer wax but not filter.
Thanks for the advice chaps!
Sounds like it's an advanced project with limited potential for success... it's a good chance for me to experiment on a stuffed one though so I might as well give it a go - I'll keep you posted on the results.

Cheers!
