How did you make it stay transparent? I have an empty 52oz that I'm about to attempt a goo kit on.

So I guess its not a different batch for that series yet. This 2nd one definitely is way better than the 1st was though. Wax still cools in a dome though, but I don't really care as long as it flows. Its still not as good as my 90's era Century, but it is better than the $24.99 Spencers Premiers I bought a few months back. I wonder why they changed the Grandes. Ben how long did that new Grande take to start flowing?
I'd love to have a Grande at my work but I'd never try it. I feel weird even having the 32oz ones at my desk, but at least they allow it. A lot of places probably wouldn't allow it due to the possible heat/electrical hazards. I still fear someday the "safety inspector" may notice them and tell me I have to remove them. But so far so good. I mean you must have to have it come on overnight some time so its flowing when you get there? With mine if I didn't turn it on till I arrived at work it'd just barely be starting to flow and it'd be the end of the day already. This takes a good 7 hrs to get flowing from cold. And my room temp is in the 70s.
I have the 2 32oz ones I do have at work on a timer to come on an hour and a half before I get to work so they're just starting to flow when I get there.
Jeff, I do feel like a dork with lava at work but I don't care. It's slowly led up to the Grande and I couldn't resist. I have a cubicle around my desk that hides the smaller ones a little but the Grande can't hide. I have a timer set up to turn it on a couple hours before work so I get a head start. The smaller ones turn on (on a separate timer) at the time I'm supposed to be there. if I don't see them turn on, I'm late!
Same w/ the 32s Those 2 aren't really noticed unless you look into my cube. Most people walking past don't see them and they can't be seen by people walking past the outside of the cubes. I've actually got a coworker with one on his desk now too, I gave him one of my globes and a base. So the joke now is "its spreading" when someone does notice either mine or his, we point out the other persons.
I've had people that do notice them though remark that they're cool too. I'll admit the thought of a Grande there has crossed my mind but has been quickly squashed....b/c I know I'd prob get in trouble for that.
We're allowed to have personal stuff, but the concern is electrical I think...they banned coffee makers and heaters and stuff when we moved to a new building. A lamp is allowed, but I'm not sure how these fit in, since they do get quite hot. While I don't think they'd ever start a fire, even if for some reason they got left on overnight (timer failure or something), the potential is there, or at least the concern.
the yellow neon on my desk at work is on a timer. by the time i arrive to work, it's already flowing.

No doubt i feel like a grande would catch way too much attention and could almost be considered a distraction.. Anyways, i got both my grandes next to each other and fired up at the same time for a side by side, ill check on them in the morning. The 2.0 version seems to cool flatter and maybe due to the wax being denser, but im just speculating. Cant wait to see side by side flow.
I received my V2 Heritage Grandes on Thursday and finally got to opened and turn them on last night. Unlike my V1s, my V2s are crystal clear. My V1s are just the slightest bit cloudy. I turned them all on before going to bed and when I got up six and a half hours later, the V2s were already flowing while the V1s showed that they had had some spikes but were motionless at the time. An hour and a half later, the V2s look to be at full flow while the V1s in what I call the "Fortress of Solitude" mode. ;)
While I like that the V2s are flowing much sooner, I prefer the more opaque lava in the V1s. The lava in V2s are actually how I expected the V1s to be: much like the lava in 52oz Neons. I think the flow is also better in the V1s.
I'm very surprised at how quickly the made changes to these lamps. Makes me think LL doesn't do much pre-consumer testing. Also makes me wonder if they've made changes to improve the Centuries....
