There we go, Brad, you shall be the "inventor" for the Grande dimmer!   I'll have to learn to use that on my new Grande too.   And a HAPPY and SPOOKY HALLOWEEN back at cha and to all........

Dimmer from the inside.....

nice!  can you post a pic of the inside (if it's not too much trouble).

Got the shipping email today, scheduled delivery is tomorrow.  Also got the shipping confirmation on the bulbs, so those shipped as well when I reordered.

Hoping the quality is better than the current 52 oz ones...if so I'll probably be ordering a blue/white and returning the 2 I bought at spencers.  The price was certainly right...but the globe quality just isn't there on the 52oz ones.  THe 32oz ones seem ok though.

Lastly still hoping for a Grande with BLUE or neon BLUE lava...please!!!

Got mine unpacked and running at 5:15pm. The Wizard is flowing, Grande is in the "spike" position with the lava all blown up the side. So almost four hours and it's not moving. I've seen this happen before with newer big lamps; they spike and since most of the wax isn't touching the bottom, they take forever to melt and get going.

The Wizard was slightly hazy upon arrival. Grande is pretty clear. Wizard has boring, China-like flow, but it's first run, so I expect it to loosen up a little as I get in more runs.

Quality of bases and caps is good. Wizard cutouts are machined well. A few nicks on the cap (no idea how that would have happened). Lava stamp on base is straight and well-placed on both. The starlight holes on the Grande are a little off. Most people won't notice this, but since I've templated and drilled these on my 52oz. bases, I can see they are a little wonky, or oddly-placed. Not a deal-breaker by any means.

Grande has two coils and a dimmer on the base. Wizard has an inline dimmer on the cord.

Glass on both globes is good - not many pinholes. No smears. Overall better glass than I've seen on the lamps from Spencer's.

More updates as I have them!

Damn that grande looks nice!!!

So far, I'm impressed. I'm going to let it run overnight since it's still stuck in sideways lava mode.

The Wizard is less than impressive, but not bad at all.

thanks for posting.  that looks exactly like the dimmer i put in my giant base, minus the wire nut.

You're welcome Brad. You know you can always expect a wall of text when it comes to my lava lamps reviews. :)

Thank you for your review and pics, Erin.  I also hope your Wizard takes off after running a while, and clears up!   I do love the red base.  The pink Grande is lovely, and I can't wait to see mine, but it's green.   I really like that pink!

Thanks for the detailed review, Erin.  Trying to decide if I should get one now or wait to see if they're going to offer the Grande with additional colors at some point.  I emailed LL and said I'd like to see a Grande in blue or orange.  Got a quick reply from Susan and she said they're going to see how they're received and go from there.  She did state this is a limited series.

Jeff, I agree with you, a blue or neon blue Grande would be excellent, a dream come true.
