After reading the thread and comments added, one thing I would like to bring back up.

The interview did state that it was the retail outlets that required a change in cost, Not the consumer.

I've always remembered Lava brand lamps being a bit on the pricy side. Even as a kid.

I remember oogling a lava brand lamp but seeing the price knowing I could not afford it.
