Making a cloudy vintage better ?

I've been reading and it seems that filtering is effective when done correctly. However, i'd rather not do that for fear of further ruining the lamp. Will cycles help? It was a perfect ebay deal, except it didn't look cloudy in the picture...I don't want to sell it, it will cost twice as much to find a clear one. help?
