Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hi

I picked up a mathmos baby astro glitterball from my local car boot sale this weekend for £3. It was in a sorry state but after a few hours I've managed to get the glitter in one place at the bottom but there is hardly any movement even though I've left it running all day.

Its also a little bit cloudy so I was considering a refill, having read a couple of old threads I'm not sure what to use, is it pure glycerine? can someone please confirm?

found quite a lot on ebay e.g.

Thanks

I can't say for sure, but my guess would be propylene glycol. How thick is the fluid inside? Propylene glycol and glycerine both have about the consistency of vegetable oil, but many bacteria break down glycerine.
