Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I'm getting my first Mathmos light, wired for european power.  Skimming the forums leads me to believe I have two options for re-wiring.

1.  If the provided bulb works, just replace the cord from the outlet to the connection at the light socket

2.  If the existing bulb doesn't work, replace all the internal wiring, and size the socket for an intermediate size bulb base to match the 40w etc...bulbs used in US lights.

Do I have the above options correct?

Thanks,

or a power adapter:

another option is to replace just the end of the cord (plug end) and find a US bulb (120 volts) for the recommended wattage that has a base to fit the socket.

I'll keep the other option in mind as I forgot about just replacing the plug.  My final solution may depend on what I can do the fastest since I want to see the flow!
