My 52oz leaked liquid when it was turned on its side

I laid my 52oz on my bed at room temperature while I was repositioning the base.  When I got back to it, there is blue liquid on my bed.

It leaked!
the cap hasn't been tampered with at all.  After the leakage, I noticed that the cap can be turned around and around with little resistance.  It's become loose and lost its seal.  Perhaps they're using beverage grade lid with seal lining that isn't meant for high temperature use?  It was bought in 2007 or so and it is one of the China made one
