Newly Acquired Cloudy Lava Lite Century

Hello Goo Heads!

I absolutely love this site! There is a ton of information! I received this Century Lava Lite as a Valentine's gift from my significant other ( his name is GooMon on here :P ) and unfortunately, it is cloudy. We have been cycling it for 4 days now and there seems to be no change. Just wondering if you guys think this was originally yellow water or clear? Should we dump the water and put in new distilled? Or keep cycling on.. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!!!

I would recommend to keep cycling it for a fue weeks or so and see if it clears up.
If it doesn't clear up then consider filtering it as that will work.
I don't recommend replacing the master fluid as its a vintage lamp and replacing the fluid will change the flow and decrease the value of the lamp.

pour the cold fluid through a water filter put it back in the lamp try not to lose fluid. warm it  up a bit and put the cap back on.

Thanks for all the responses! What kind of water filter Matt? Some of the liquid seems to have evaporated, should I top it off? Yea.. my bet is yellow too Jus.. What do you guys think this is worth? Comes with original box and warranty/manual.

This is a 70s Century and usually, ones this cloudy do not clear up, no matter how long you cycle. You could filter it (check out the section in our Lava Library here), but it will likely cloud up again. 

I had one just like this:

It clouded up again.

Both are now cloudy again. 

I did try the water filter method and not only did it not work for me, but I lost fluid in the process. I would not recommend it. 

I have been trying to mess with the green/red one with distilled water and salt/propylene glycol/glycerin, but it still won't flow. After getting a few of these lamps, I just won't buy cloudy ones anymore. Too much hassle. 

As for what it's worth, not much. 70s Centuries are pretty common and a cloudy one like this won't go for more than $20. With box and manual, maybe $35 - $40.

I sure am glad you have been helping people. By the time I get around to posting a reply you have already done so and saved me the energy of typing up suggestions.   /laaaazy

However, I would recommend cycling it for at least a month before tampering with the lamp. You never know if it will clear up until you give it time.
