if you're an avid eBayer, NOS should really get your blood pumping, or at least your ebay trigger finger clicking.
maybe some of you saw this on ebay a week or so ago, but i ended up winning a new in box silver century with a blue/white globe. i've never won a NOS lava lamp auction before, so i figured i would post some pics of what a century looked like when it came out of the box, new.
when i opened the box, the cardboard was very stiff when it bent, so i knew it had to be new. the base was still in a plastic wrapper, and it appeared that the box containing the globe was opened maybe once just to verify its contents.
i'll let the photos explain the rest, but i figured i would post this in case someone else wondered what a century looked like when it was brand new, only 18 years later. i assume this is a 1995 lamp, which means that i was in 9th grade when this lamp was released.

Wow, does the white wax look that white in person? If the blue/whites looked that nice (instead of dark blue/cream) it would be my favorite combo. Gorgeous and a great find! Jealous!
Wow...I wonder why there's such a difference. Unfortunately mine looks like the one on the far right...and I'm pretty sure it always has since day 1, although I can't remember for certain. Its more of a cream color. Now you got me wanting to sell it and try to find another that is whiter.
yeah some of my blue/white globes are more of a cream color, and others are very white. keep checking that ebay.
Problem is there's no way to really know if its going to be white or cream till getting it. I have the same color set in a 32oz and that one's more cream colored than white too, but it is whiter than the century is.
i guess i really like blue/white because i think i have 5 globes now? oops.
i took a gamble on this new in box lamp, but luckily it turned out ok. you can always ask the seller to post a pic of the lamp flowing. you should be able to see the wax color clearly.
MT wax is very white, but in my experience, their newer formula never turned opaque, so i gave up and dyed it yellow.
That's beautiful! I wish LL would go back to using REAL pics of their lamps on their packaging instead of renderings.
Ah, times gone by....
Thanks for sharing. Glad this went to someone who will appreciate it!
thanks erin. you know i'm geeking out on this thing.

Yes using REAL pictures of there lamps show more faith in there lamps - if the lamps were all back to 90's quality the renderings would be what all there lamps would look like.
