Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I recently acquired a 52 oz. Century lava lamp that had been stored in a garage for many years where it presumably froze and thawed over many winters. I fired it up with no luck, the lava and globe heated up but the lava never flowed, I've tried running it for extended periods of time with no luck. Also, the gold cap did not come with it, I stuck a spray paint cap on it to see if that was the problem but it still didnt work. If anyone has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have the heat shield and have let it run for upwards of 10 hours, the lava turns to liquid but never floats. Thanks
If the wax is dead, is there anything I can do?
For esome reason my century will only flow with a 60w appliance bulb. Maybe too much heat goes out the holes?
I dunno.....but that is all that will work for me.
