Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Well, I bought a new lava lamp a few days ago and encountered some problems with it. To start, when it flows, it leaves this wax "trail' and only goes up in this way. When it goes down, it stays down and four hours in, it starts overheating.

Does anyone know what the cause of this is? I am deeply saddened about it, I was so excited too.

TBH the lamp is not a good lamp at all - there have been many problems with them in the past.

There are options though:

- you could replace the water - ckeck out the lava libary and topics on hear for info on this.

- Buy a new lamp or globe - the USA made ones aviable on ebay are good and some of the new Lava Lite lamps have had good revivews such as the neon series and the clear views.

What is the size of the lamp / globe (bottle)?

if you purchased it new, i would take it back and get another one.

Needs some brine solution added to cause the lava to rise, and a couple of drops of glycerine to improve the flow and stop the wax trail
