Please Lend Me Your Knowledge On Grande's

So I've got a filter pump coming to the house. Finally bought one. But I'm really unsure about how to take the cap off of the grande. Additionally what is the best way to get it off without breaking the globe AND what do I recap it with? Also any knowledge of the filter pumping process would be greatly appreciated as well.
